Agra Excursions Agra possesses many enchanting and stupendous tourist attractions. It is not only limited to the Taj Mahal. But, it is a fact that must be admitted, that the Taj has overshadowed everything else. Never mind, yet there are  many historical monuments that are the competitors  of the Taj, such as the Agra red Fort, Itmad-ud-Daulah tomb, Rambagh and Dayalbagh Gardens, Chini ka Rauza and the Jama Masjid.

Some of the popular places near Agra that must not be missed are Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Mathura, Ferozabad and Fatehpur Sikri.
 
Mathura, almost 50 km north of Agra, 150 km south of Delhi, is situated the holy city of Mathura. It is the administrative centre of Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh.  Being the birth place of Lord Shri Krishna, is a major pilgrimage site for Hindu's. One can find many tourist attractions namely Dwarkadheesh Temple, Potara-Kund, Katra Masjid, Kans Qila, Sati Burj and Vishram Ghat. 

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park, lies between the two historic cities, Agra and Jaipur. This north Indian sanctuary is situated, about 190 km from the national capital of India.

Ferozabad, located approximately, 44 km away from Agra, is an industrial city known or glass products. One can buy and sell glass bangles and chandeliers in abundance.

Fatehpur Sikri, an imperial city of the Mughal rule between 1571 and 1584, was built Mughal Emperor Akbar is located at a distance of 40km from Agra. This architectural masterpiece was built in red sand stone exudes a blend of Hindu and Muslim styles in its architectural forms.
