Agra, also known as the city of Taj, is situated on the banks of Yamuna River, and is the third biggest city in Utter Pradesh which was the capital of India during the Mughal era. However, the history of Agra is much older than the times of Mughals. According to the historians, the great Hindu epic 'Mahabharat' refers to 'Agraban' as an integral part of the Brij Bhumi or the land of Lord Krishna. However, the city is said to be founded in 1475 during the reign of Raja Badal Singh.
